1. B.R. AMBEDKAR MEDHA PURASKAR

A total of 750 ST students are selected every year for award of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medha Puraskar on the basis of the result in the X - Standard examinations conducted by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, the West Bengal Madrasah Board, ICSE and CBSC. The meritorious students of each district get the award. The prize consisting of a Cash Award of Rs. 5000/- and a Certificate of Merit is awarded in a special function in presence of Hon'ble MIC, Senior Administrators of the department and eminent personalities of the society.

2. TRIBAL ONE ACT DRAMA COMPETITION-CENTRAL LEVEL AND DISTRICT LEVEL PROGRAMME

This department holds One Act Drama Completion to promote tribal culture at the block, district, Zonal & state level. State level programme is held in different districts by rotation. 23rd State level Tribal One Act Drama Competition for the fiscal 2017-18 was held on 31st January, 2018 at Kurukh Mancha at Kurukh Nagar under Tapan Dev. Block of Dakshin Dinajpur District. An amount of Rs. 75,00,000/- was allocated and utilized for this purpose during 2017-18. Prize money & Trophy awarded for this purpose in the state level programme including recipients are as under.

3. TRADITIONAL TRIBAL DANCE PROGRAMME (SEREN)

A state-level tribal dance, song and musical instrument State Level Final programme was held from 8th to 9th December, 2017 at Rabindra Tirtha, New Town, Kolkata after Block Level and District Level Competition to focus on the traditional form of tribal dance, song and use of traditional instruments. It was held in a competition mode where around 900 tribal artists from 40 different tribal groups participated.

Tribal groups of Santhal, Oroan, Munda, Ho, Sabar, Lodha, Limbu, Birjia presented their dance forms like Sarpa, Karam,Paiki, Jhumur etc. Use of traditional Santhali violin Banam and other instruments were vividly seen during the competition. An amount of Rs. 155.00 lakh was utilised for the purpose during 2017-18 and the said programme was organised by the West Bengal Tribal Development Co-operative Corporation Ltd. on behalf of the Tribal Development Department.

4. ADIBASI GUNIJAN SAMBARDHANA(2019-20)

  • One of the important activities of the Tribal Development Department is to preserve, promote and develop cultural heritage of the ST(S) of the State. 
  • The 'Adibasi Gunijan Sambardhana' is one of the important continuing programmes held by the department during January February of every calendar year.
  • Following awards are given under the programme: 
     A) Saduu Ramchand Murmu Award- For the purpose of promoting literature.
     B) Pandit Raghunath Murmu Award- For the purpose of Art and Culture
     C) Lal Sukhra Oraon Award: For performing award to the tribal artists. d)
     D) Birsha Munda Award
     E) Sidhu Kanhu Award to felicitate Adibasi Celebrities in the fields of Literature, Fine Arts and Craft, and performing Art, in the name of the great free lom fighter and the great martyr

  • Prize Money for each Awardee:A "Tamra Falak", Cash Prize of Rs.1.00 lakh, Certificates and cloths including a "Shawl".
  • A State Level Programme is organised by the Commissioner, BCW&TD Dte. with necessary support of the Tribal Development Department.
  • Venue for the Programme is selected in different places of the State. 
  • This Programme is Organised with approval of HCM.
  • Every year a Selection Committee is constituted for selection of the name of Awardees as per guidelines of the department.
  • Applications are invited through advertisement in Departmental Website, newspaper along with intimation to the District Magistrate(s), P.O-Cum-DWO(s) of different districts. 
  • The members of the Selection Committee also use their own sources for collecting the names of eligible candidates.
