Paschim Banga Adibasi Kalyan-O-Shiksha Parshad (PBAKOSP) has been set up for the management and running of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS). At present 08 (eight) EMRS are running in eighttribal-dominated districts. The main objective of setting up of EMRS is to provide quality education to tribal boys and girls studying from Class VI to XII. Eight 'Eklavya Model Residential Schools' are functioning in the State in the following Districts (1) Bankura (2) Purulia (3) Burdwan (4) PaschimMedinipur (5) Jalpaiguri (6) Birbhum (7) DakshinDinajpur (8) Kalimpong with support from the Government of India. These are English Medium Schools under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. The Higher Secondary section is affiliated with the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. Each school has a capacity of 480 students. The students admitted to these schools are provided with free food and lodging, uniform, textbooks, other educational support and sports facilities. Computer education has also been introduced in all the schools from class VI.

PBAKOSP has been set up with the Hon'bleMoS (I/C), Tribal Development Department as Chairman and Commissioner, Backward Classes welfare & Tribal development as Member-Secretary. District committees with District Magistrates as Chairmenhave been formed for the day-to-day management and monitoring of the schools. Recently many steps have been taken up for further improvement in those schools.
