Paschim Banga Adibasi Kalyan O Siksha Parshad (PBAKOSP) has been set up for management and running of Ekalavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS). At present 07(seven) EMRS are running in seven tribal dominated districts. The main objective of setting up EMRS is to provide quality education to tribal boys and girls studying from Class VI to XII. Seven 'Ekalavya Model Residential Schools' are functioning in the State in the following Districts (1) Bankura (2) Purulia (3) Burdwan (4) Paschim Medinipur (5) Jalpaiguri (6) Birbhum (7) Dakshin Dinajpur with funds from Government of India and the State Government. These are English Medium Schools under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. Each school has a capacity of 420 students. The students who are admitted in these schools are provided with scholarships, free food and lodging, sports facilities etc. Computer education has also been introduced in all the schools from class VI.

PBAKOSP has been set up with Hon'ble MIC, BCW Department as Chairperson and Commissioner, BCW as Member Secretary. Seven district committees with District Magistrates as Chairman has been formed for day to day management and monitoring of the schools. Recently many steps have been taken up for further improvement in those schools. A new EMRS has been sanctioned and proposed to be setup at Kalimpong.
